CARE & PRESERVATION

Mayumi raw hair is best preserved through gentle, consistent care. Care needs vary according to texture, construction, wear and previous heat or chemical processing.

  1. DETANGLING

Before cleansing, loosen tangles with your fingers. Follow with a wide-tooth comb, working gradually from the ends upward.

To limit tension on wefts, lace and knots, support the hair close to its attachment point while detangling.

For curly or coily textures, lightly dampen the hair and apply a detangling product formulated for human hair.

Never force a comb or brush through a tangle.

  1. CLEANSING

Saturate the hair with lukewarm water. Apply a gentle, moisturizing shampoo and distribute it in a downward motion.

Keep the hair aligned. Do not pile, twist or scrub it.

Handle wefts, lace, knots and wig caps with particular care. Rinse until all shampoo has been removed.

  1. CONDITIONING

Apply a moisturizing conditioner from the mid-lengths through the ends. Avoid saturating wefts, lace and knots.

Leave the conditioner on for the time directed on the product label. Detangle gently, then rinse with lukewarm water.

Use a deep-conditioning treatment when the hair feels dry or after repeated heat styling.

  1. DRYING

Press excess water from the hair with a soft or microfiber towel. Do not rub, twist or wring.

Air-dry whenever possible. After blotting, place wigs on a clean, ventilated stand that supports the shape without stretching the cap. Lay bundles flat on a clean, breathable surface in a well-ventilated area.

Arrange curly and wavy textures gently while damp, then leave the pattern undisturbed as it dries.

When blow-drying, apply a heat protectant and use controlled airflow at a low heat setting. Avoid concentrating heat in one area.

  1. HOT-TOOL STYLING

Before using a flat iron, curling iron or hot comb, allow the hair to dry fully.

Apply a heat protectant and use the lowest effective temperature. Repeated or excessive heat may permanently alter the hair’s natural pattern and condition.

  1. BETWEEN WEARS

Detangle only as needed. Ensure the hair and its base are completely dry before covering or storing.

For installed hair, follow your stylist’s maintenance guidance. Protect the hair at night with a silk or satin bonnet, scarf or pillowcase.

  1. STORAGE

Store the hair only when it is completely dry.

Keep bundles aligned and loosely secured. Store wigs without folding or compressing the lace or cap.

Use a clean, breathable storage bag and keep the hair away from direct sunlight, humidity and excessive heat.

PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

Bleaching, coloring and chemical processing may permanently alter the texture and condition of the hair. These services should be performed by an experienced professional.

THE MAYUMI STANDARD

Care should support the natural character of the hair, never mask or overwhelm it.

Gentle handling, suitable products and controlled heat help preserve the movement and condition of your Mayumi hair.
